    11 questions

    (helgaandbear tagged me.)

    Rules:

    1. Post the rules.

    2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and make 11 new ones.

    3. Tag 11 people and link them to your post.

    4. Let them know you’ve tagged them.

    helgaandbear’s questions:

    1. How old are you?

"One should never trust a woman who tells one her real age. A woman who would tell one that, would tell one anything." - Oscar Wilde

    2. What is your cultural background/ heritage?

My ancestors are predominantly German and Irish.

    3. What were you like as a little kid?

I was a performer. I believed in magic and that animals talked to me. I made up stories. I hated to disappoint people. I usually had my nose in a book. I was excited about most things. I loved kittens a crazy lot. I never met a stranger. I loved adventure, but was afraid of the dark.

So, I was pretty much like I am now, except way more trusting.

    4. What is one thing in your life today that makes you purely happy?

My boyfriend and his little boy.

    5. Post a photo of an outfit that you would use to describe your style ideal fashion-wise, if you only had the one photo to do it:

This was crazy hard! I didn’t find the perfect picture, because in this one I would change the leather pants to jeans, probably. But it’s damn close. I did find the perfect video to describe my style ideal, if anyone is interested - I love every detail:

    http://youtu.be/t5xpCmV4MV8

p.s. the video has a great j. roddy walston & the business song playing!

    6. What is your favorite material possession?

My banjo, Loretta, & my books. Toss up.

    7. In the big-picture sense, what do you believe in most? I don’t mean for this to solely be a religious question, if anything, I hope you express some ideas about humanity, politics, religion…whatever you feel strongly about. Get metaphysical with it.

I believe in loyalty and fidelity. I believe in a constant strive for self-improvement. I believe in the importance of family and that you can build a family in all kinds of ways. I believe in basing my actions on who I want to be, as opposed to basing them out of reaction to others. I believe in kindness. I believe in the power of books and music to change life and make it worth living. I believe in trying to leave things better than you found them. I believe that true friends are hard to come by and they should be valued. I believe in God. I believe I don’t have all the answers. I believe the world is full of beauty. I believe in the extraordinary. I believe in exuberance and enthusiasm. I believe in not sacrificing what you want most for what you want now. I believe travel is essential to expanding perception. I believe in compassion. I believe in smiling a whole hell of a lot. I believe that the right chord can make your heart open up and that the right line can change your mind. I believe in poetry. I believe in miracles. I believe in doing better when you know better. I believe in apologizing when you’re wrong. I believe in seeing the best in people. I believe in therapy. I believe in educating yourself. I believe in redemption. I believe in accountability. I believe in fighting for what matters.

    8. Name all the countries you have been in the world:

    United States, England, Canada, Mexico,

    9. Where in the world do you live? You don’t have to be specific, but what is the region, what is the weather like?

Technically, I live nowhere. I’ve been on the road for months. All my stuff is in a storage room - my stuff lives in Texas, though, which is apparently located roughly adjacent to the sun, because the weather is miserable.

    10. If you were on death row at this very moment, what last meal would you ask for?

    Whiskey.

    11. What is your favorite book?

"Picking five favorite books is like picking the five body parts you’d most like not to lose.” — Neil Gaiman

There is just no way I can choose one. But for the sake of this post, I will list 5. If you try to hold me to just five in reality, however, I will likely stab you with a pen.

    The Book Thief, Marcus Zusak

All The Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy

    Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë

    American Gods, Neil Gaiman

The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Here Be Dragons, Sharon Kay Penman

The Complete Works of Emily Dickinson

    (yeah, yeah. it’s 7.)

aaronjoliver reblogged this from you and added:

    I think you’re gonna need a bigger knife. ;)

girlmeetsbanjo: I don’t know… when it comes to acquiring both bearded men and banjos, it’s possible I have a few other tools at my disposal besides that knife. ;) Plus, I keep that blade razor sharp.
